Data Profiling is the process of auditing data in an existing database or file and collecting
statistics and information regarding its quality. This additional metadata is often referred
to as data metrics. Data metrics reveal the accuracy and completeness of data.

Data profiling also involves the discovery of patterns and insights within data distribution
as well as metadata and relationship analysis. A helpful feature is the ability to drill down
and further analyze specific patterns or data metrics.

IST SSIS data profiling component can provide you with a better understanding of the
characteristics of your data. It is difficult if not impossible to undertake any data related
initiatives without proper insight into the data itself. Maximal and minimal values, numeric
ranges, null, empty, unique percentage are just some of the statistical expressions that
ship with our data profiling tool.

Our SSIS data profiling component is able to run a previously defined job using the IST
DataProfiler GUI. The results of the job are stored in the data profiling repository and are
available within in the process workflow.
