MerlinMerge® SpeedPro -Technical Information MerlinMerge® SpeedPro enables systems to find and match records
using personal names, corporate names, addresses, social security,
phone and account numbers and other identifying information. It intelligently searches for and identifies duplicate records in flat file databases.

Match Keys
MerlinMerge uses IST's multicultural fuzzy searching and matching technology to generate intelligent match keys used to sort records into sets which are evaluated with high-performance comparison routines. Records with sufficient similarities are designated as matches.
Keys are generated by extracting elements from identifying information and uniformly combining them to create a match code. The matching engine employs four sub functions or modules-sanitization, phrase recognition, word pattern recognition, and phonetic tokenization. These modules receive identity information and return a key or a set of keys.
Services
Services are a defined set of parsing options, lexicons, and rulebases based on personal names, company names, addresses and/or other identification classifications. After identity data (fields in records) is passed through the key generation routine it is processed according to the Service specificed.
Comparison Functions
A sophisticated scoring system derives results through an evaluation of
a neural network which is created through comprehension of the degree of similarity between two entities. The advanced heuristic pattern recognition subprogram receives information from the raw input combined with observations made by the knowledge base and phonetic routines. The pattern recognition facility digests the information and constructs weighted nodes that are placed on the neural net. Once the neural net
is completed, it is optimistically evaluated and intelligent scores are rendered. The score or scores used to determine the likelihood of a
match depends on the degree of accuracy required.
